Brief Introduction of NTC Thermistor
General
NTC, abbreviation of Negative Temperature Coefficient. Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor is made of polycrystalline mixed metal oxides material such as Mn, Co, Ni, Cu as main material, through ceramic production technics. These metal oxides holds semiconducting characteristics, as it has same or similar electric conduction model with the semiconducting material such as Ge, Si. When in low temperature, it’s in high temperature, with the increase of temperature, resistance decreases. The resistance change range of NTC thermistor in room temperature is 10O~106Ω, temperature coefficient -2%~-6.5%. NTC thermistor is widely applied in temperature measurement, temperature compensation, and limiting surge current.
